New InterContinental for Orlando. IHG Hotels &
Resorts has partnered with New York City-based Flag Luxury Group and
Orlando-based Unicorp National Developments for a new 700-key InterContinental
Orlando scheduled to open in 2028. There are 220 open InterContinental hotels
worldwide, and 100 more are in the company’s global pipeline. Last week, Hyatt
announced the $1.07 billion sale of the Hyatt Regency Orlando to Los
Angeles-based Ares Management and Houston-based Rida Development, as well as
the development of a new 2,500-key Grand Hyatt on an adjacent parcel.
Three more Everhome Suites. Choice Hotels
International is partnering with Denver-based Highside Companies to break
ground on Everhome Suites extended-stay properties in San Antonio,
Texas; Bowling Green, Kentucky; and Wichita, Kansas. The 115-key Everhome Suites
Bowling Green and the 115-key Everhome Suites San Antonio are expected to open
in November 2025, while the 123-key Everhome Suites Wichita is expected to open
in the fall of 2025. Choice has four Everhome Suites open, with 65 in its
pipeline and 20 under construction.
New Park Hyatt in Japan. Hyatt Hotels Corp. has signed a management agreement with Heiwa Real Estate Co. Ltd. for a new Park Hyatt hotel in Sapporo in northern Japan. The 157-key Park Hyatt Sapporo will be in a mixed-use tower under development on the 27th through 35th floors and will open in 2029. It will be the fourth Park Hyatt hotel in Japan and the 21st Hyatt hotel across nine brands in the country.
New CEO at Urban Resort Concepts. Shanghai-based
Urban Resort Concepts has named Victor Clavell as CEO. He has over three
decades of hotel management experience, including 28 years with Marriott International’s
luxury portfolio. While much of his career with Marriott was in Europe, Clavell moved to Asia in 2010 when he was named area vice president
for Asia Pacific. He was previously COO at AMAALA and most recently was
the senior vice president of operations of Rosewood Europe, the Middle East,
Africa, and the Caribbean.
TPG adds 2 in Georgia. McKinney, Texas-based TPG Hotels
& Resorts has been selected to manage two properties in Augusta, Georgia:
the 124-key Residence Inn by Marriott Augusta and the 88-key SpringHill Suites
by Marriott Augusta. Warner Robins, Georgia-based PeachState Hospitality owns
both hotels. TPG manages hotels and marinas in 42 states.
New Hilton luxury program. Hilton is introducing Hilton
for Luxury, a premier global luxury travel advisor preferred partner program
exclusive to Hilton’s luxury brands: Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts,
Conrad Hotels & Resorts, LXR Hotels & Resorts, NoMad Hotels and Signia
by Hilton. The invitation-only program is designed for Hilton’s top-producing
luxury travel advisors in every region, who support customers in booking
world-class accommodations around the globe.
Rebrand in Boston. The 112-key Pennyweight Hotel
Boston, Curio Collection by Hilton will have a soft opening this month in
Boston and a grand opening in September. The Former Onyx Boston Downtown hotel
takes its new name from its address, 155 Portland Street, and the exact weight
of a pennyweight: 1.55 grams.
