1,000-key
hotel in Dallas. Dallas developer Ray Washburne plans to build an $800 million, 30-story hotel
on land he owns at the old Dallas Morning News campus in downtown Dallas,
according to a story in The Dallas Morning News. The 1,000-key hotel would
anchor an entertainment district he’s long planned since purchasing the campus
in 2019 and is near Dallas’ convention center, which is currently being
renovated. The planned hotel tower would rise behind the property’s historic
Rock of Truth monument. Washburne told the publication he has increased his
initial room count from 250 keys after speaking with hotel chains.
Historic
Nashville building converting. Nashville-based Sanders Carter is developing an upscale
hotel at the site of the Barbershop Harmony Society, which could be a 30-story
high-rise, according to the Nashville Business Journal. The development could
offer 250-275 rooms, F&B concepts, a ballroom and meeting space. The
building has been owned by the nonprofit Barbershop Harmony Society and served
as its headquarters for 20 years.
Hyatt
adds all-inclusive in DR. Hyatt Hotels Corp. has entered into a management agreement with Santo
Domingo, Dominican Republic-based Codelpa, the owner of Secrets Tides Punta
Cana, for a family-friendly all-inclusive resort, Hyatt Ziva Punta Cana. The
650-key, new-build resort is scheduled to open in 2029.
Florida
hotel sells. Julie
and Greg Schwartzenberger, who own the Hotel Palms in Atlantic Beach,
Florida, have acquired the adjacent Salt Air Inn and Suites from an undisclosed
seller for an undisclosed amount with plans to create an integrated hospitality
property. The plan will increase the Hotel Palms room count from 11 to 26. Both
hotels were built in 1946.
Charlestowne’s
development pipeline. Mount Pleasant, South Carolina-based Charlestowne Hotels has a development
pipeline of projects across the Midwest, Southeast and Mountain West. The
pipeline features a diverse mix of projects, including a luxury boutique hotel
in Milwaukee; a staff-less hospitality concept in Florida and the opening of a
new adaptive-reuse property in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Charlestowne is also
expanding its soft brand portfolio, with two Tribute Portfolio by Marriott
hotels slated to open over the next two years. The projects include: the 27-key
Hotel Flora in Santa Fe, New Mexico; the 35-key Hotel Laureum in Milwaukee; the
122-key Hotel Madelon in Starkville, Mississippi; the 92-key The Rumor Hotel in
Ogden, Utah; The Inn at Aspen in Aspen, Colorado; the 8-key The Livery
Guesthouse in Tarpon Springs, Florida; an unnamed 50-key independent luxury
hotel in Charleston, South Carolina; and a 75-key wellness hotels part of a
mixed-use development in Johns Island, South Carolina.
Philo
acquires in Oregon. Lehi, Utah-based Philo Hospitality has acquired and will operate Surfside
Beachfront Resort, a 70-key beachfront hotel in Rockaway Beach, Oregon. The
property was acquired from the Kim family, who have owned and operated Surfside
and other Oregon Coast hotels for more than 20 years. The new owners plan to
invest approximately $24,000 per room in renovations.
Accor
adds in Paris. Extendem is partnering with Accor to develop a new Tribe-branded property
within the Python-Duvernois urban project in Paris. The hotel will feature 209
rooms and will be part of a mixed-use development. It is scheduled to open in
2028.
Coast
rebrands in Canada. Coast Hotels Ltd., a fully owned subsidiary of APA Hotel Canada, Inc., is
adding its newest franchised property in Edson, Alberta. The newly rebranded
69-key Coast Edson Hotel, marking the seventh Coast Hotels property owned by
Mundi Hotel Enterprises Inc.
Hotel101
opens in Madrid. Singapore-based Hotel101 Global Holdings Corp. has opened the 680-key
Hotel101-Madrid, marking the first Filipino homegrown hotel brand to operate
overseas. It is one of the five largest hotels in Spain in terms of room count.
