W brand coming to Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS – Marriott International and MGM Resorts International plan to convert the 43-story, 1,117-room Delano hotel at the Mandalay Bay Campus in Las Vegas to a W hotel later this year with additional plans for the property to be announced in the future.

This latest move in the companies’ long-term strategic licensing agreement announced in July 2023 grows the affiliation to 12 destinations on the Las Vegas Strip. The W conversion will continue to be managed by MGM.

Marriott said since the MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy officially launched in March 2024, bookings are significantly outpacing anticipated projections with hundreds of thousands of room nights booked.

“Our relationship with Marriott has far exceeded our expectations, demonstrating the power of its brand portfolio and the strength of their distribution channels,” said Steve Zanella, president of MGM Resorts Operations. “W Las Vegas, the latest hotel to come to life as part of our collaboration, will allow our guests to access a new luxury lifestyle experience recognized worldwide for its distinct personality, dynamic programming and elevated service culture.”

In June, MGM completed a $100 million redesign of the 2.1 million-square-foot Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
