Ohana
acquires in Sedona. Austin-based Ohana Real Estate Investors has acquired the 100-key Amara Resort
& Spa, a luxury boutique hotel in Sedona, Arizona, from Denver-based Northwood
Hospitality for an undisclosed amount. Northwood performed a multi-million,
property-wide renovation in 2021.
New
Studio 6 locations. Dallas-based G6 Hospitality, parent company of Motel 6 and Studio 6, said it
has opened over 35 new Studio 6 locations in the first quarter of 2026, marking
continued strong momentum for the extended-stay brand. New Studio 6 locations
launched in 2026 were added in Birmingham, Alabama; Sacramento and Fresno,
California; Fort Myers, Florida; Chicago, Washington, D.C., Minneapolis,
Rochester and Buffalo, New York; Cincinnati; El Paso, Texas; Memphis; Oklahoma
City; Milwaukee; Jacksonville; and Seattle.
Renovation
in Denver. The
Denver Convention Center Hotel Authority has completed a $70 million renovation
of the 1,100-key Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center, which
included upgrades to all guest rooms and common areas. The hotel includes over
60,000 sq. ft. of flexible meeting space. Through the hotel’s furniture-moving
and installation vendors, approximately 90% of furniture, mattresses, lighting
and artwork from previous guestrooms was resold and diverted from landfills,
finding new homes across the United States.
Ohio
hotel converting. A
local investment in Mansfield, Ohio, is proposed to convert a former Holiday
Inn in downtown Mansfield into an upscale boutique hotel, according to the
Mansfield News Journal. The redevelopment, working under the name The Hearth
& Forge Hotel, would involve renovating the entire hotel, which first
opened in 1984. The investment group is led by Max Patel.
Hyatt
Studios in Jacksonville. Chattanooga, Tennessee-based 3H Group is opening the Hyatt Studios
Jacksonville / St. Johns Town Center in Florida. The hotel will be managed by
Dothan, Alabama-based LBA Hospitality. This marks the third Hyatt Studios
opened by the collaboration of 3H and LBA.
Palladium
adds in Vietnam. Ibiza, Spain-based Palladium Hotel Group has signed a hotel management
agreement with Hanoitourist to convert the Hòa Bình Hotel in Vietnam into an
80-key luxury property under its Bless Collection Hotels portfolio, marking a
significant step in the company’s expansion across Vietnam. The project
represents Palladium Hotel Group’s second signed property in Vietnam, following
the previously announced Bless Collection Hotels resort in Ninh Van Bay,
scheduled to open in 2027. Construction on this conversion is expected to begin
later this year and take approximately 2 years.
Ascott
adding in Vietnam. Ascott is opening Sky Vista, the newest resort tower in Vietnam, representing
the second and final phase of the 190-key Lasong Hotel & Villas Sam Son by
The Unlimited Collection, later this month. Ascott manages the resort, which is
located where the Ma River meets Sam Son Beach. The resort complements the pre-existing Ocean Vista wing, which began operating in
mid-2025 with 68 hotel rooms and 20 private villas.
Tokyo
capsule hotel trades. Bauhinia Hotels Group Japan 2, a joint-venture company of Optimal Trade
Holdings Ltd., indirectly owned by Hong Kong-based companies, Chinney
Investments Ltd. and Hon Kwok Land Investment Co. Ltd., has entered into an
agreement to sell a capsule hotel in Tokyo to Japan-based Daiwa House Industry
Co., Ltd. for JPY2.72 billion on a vacant possession basis, according to
HVS. The property contains 161 capsules and five rooms. The vehicle acquired
the property in August 2023 for JPY1.57 billion, and the sale represents a
73.2% increase in value.
