Starwood’s 1 Hotel coming to the Catskills

ROSENDALE, New York — Starwood Hotels is partnering with Hudson River Valley Resorts for 1 Hotel & Homes Hudson Valley, set on the shores of Fifth Lake in New York’s Ulster County.

The project will have residences projected to open beginning in Summer 2026 and a 100-room resort scheduled to open in 2028. It is located less than a two-hour drive from Midtown Manhattan.

The site was once home to the Williams Lake Hotel, a storied Borscht Belt destination dating back to the 1920s. Today, under the stewardship of Hudson River Valley Resorts, LLC and its principal, Richard Steele, the property is being reimagined to honor its past while preserving its ecological integrity, with more than 500 acres dedicated to conservation as a nature preserve.

1 Hotel & Homes Hudson Valley is set in the foothills of the Catskills at the crossroads of Rosendale and Kingston and spans 775 acres. Fifth Lake, a spring-fed, 45-acre body of water that is known for its clarity and beauty. Guests and residents will be able to step directly into the lake from the hotel’s dock.

In December, Starwood announced it was partnering with Grupo Questro and Grupo MRP to develop the 1 Hotel Cabo in Los Cabos, Mexico. Earlier last month, the 1 Hotels brand launched a loyalty program called Mission Membership, a purpose-driven concept designed to reward guests. The program focuses on personalization, environmental impact, and “deepening the guest experience in meaningful ways.”
