Six
Senses adds in Beijing. IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement with Beijing Zhongguancun Avenue Construction & Development Group for the 75-key Six Senses Beijing, which will open in the Haidian District of China’s capital. Six Senses
Beijing will be the brand’s second property in Greater China, alongside Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain. The brand continues to grow its global footprint within IHG Hotels & Resorts’ Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio and now operates 27 properties across
20 countries, with recent openings including Six Senses London and a strong development pipeline across Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
San
Antonio asset trades. Armada Investments LP has acquired the 114-key Aloft San Antonio Airport from an undisclosed seller for an undisclosed amount. The hotel was built in 2009 and the new owner plans to complete a Marriott-required PIP. Hunter Hotel
Advisors facilitated the transaction. The hotel is expected to benefit from the airport’s planned $2.5 billion expansion.
US hotels
down last week. The U.S. hotel industry reported negative year-over-year comparisons because of the Easter holiday calendar shift, according to the latest data from CoStar. For the week of March 29 through April 4, occupancy was 60.6% (-5%), ADR was
$160.21 (-0.1%) and RevPAR was $97.02 (-5.1%). Among the top 25 markets, Anaheim reported the largest increases in occupancy (+12.5% to 75.5%) and RevPAR (+25.8% to $164.96). Miami posted the highest rise in ADR (+24.7% to $325.48) and the second-largest
lift in RevPAR (+23.8% to $263.60). The steepest RevPAR declines were seen in Las Vegas (-34.2% to $123.89) and New Orleans (-23.2% to $97.52). Overall, 20 of the top 25 markets saw a dip in RevPAR.
Rebranded
hotel opens in DFW. Dallas-based NewcrestImage and Coury Hospitality have opened the rebranded Ricardo Marriott DFW Westlake hotel after extensive renovations. NewcrestImage acquired the former Marriott Westlake hotel in September 2023 through a joint
venture with Danu Group, which is now managed by Coury. The hotel has 15,000 sq. ft. of flexible meeting space and several F&B venues.
Goodtime
Hotel shutting down. Highgate will cease operations at the Goodtime Hotel in Miami Beach, Florida, which continues to have ongoing legal troubles. Last month, Los Angeles-based CIM Group escalated its legal war with the owners of the 266-key Goodtime Hotel and filed a $149.3 million foreclosure complaint to seize the property. Highgate announced it
was terminating the hotel’s 114 employees on or after May 31 and ceasing its management operations at the hotel.
Meliá expands into Tunisia. Meliá Hotels International is strengthening its position in the Mediterranean with the announcement of its official entry into Tunisia. Through a strategic alliance with Management Hospitality Group (MHG), the company will operate
five new properties that will gradually join its portfolio, with the goal of reaching 3,000 rooms in the destination by 2030. The expansion begins this year with the opening of a 307-key resort operating under the Meliá Hotels & Resorts brand in Mahdia.
Following this first opening, the growth plan includes the addition of four hotels in Tabarka, Monastir, Djerba and Tunis City between 2027 and 2029.
