Miami Beach-based luxury brand steps into a St. Maarten
mixed-use development, it’s first in the Caribbean.
St. MAARTEN – Toronto-based Altree Developments has partnered
with the owners of the Setai Hotels brand, who will take over branding of Altree's Vie L'Ven development
in St. Maarten. Construction is underway with completion expected by 2028.
The mixed-use property will now debut as The Setai St. Maarten, a
205-key luxury property with private villas set along the shores of Indigo Bay.
This collaboration marks The Setai’s Caribbean debut to go along with the owning
Nakash family’s properties in Miami Beach and Israel.
Questions sent to representatives of Setai leadership on
December 18 about the specific status of the development, Setai’s role (property manager, investor?), among others have not been answered as of this
posting.
The resort will feature both residential and hotel
accommodations, including one to four-bedroom layouts, spanning from
approximately 620 to over 2,000-plus square feet and dual key residence
options expanding up to 6,000 square feet.
The resort offerings will remain anchored with a
beach club with dedicated cabanas and butler service, a Les Clefs d'Or
concierge team, three pools, a 30,000 square foot spa, tennis and pickleball
courts, on-beach water sports, a children’s playroom, childcare programs and
access to a protected nature reserve.
The resort will also feature five restaurant concepts,
including Ocean Grill Beach Club and Jaya, both inspired by the culinary
concepts of The Setai, Miami Beach.
Zev Mandelbaum, president and CEO of 70-year-old,
multi-generational Altree Developments, said in the release, “From the very beginning, our
vision has been to create something extraordinary for the island. Teaming up
with the Nakash family to bring The Setai's first Caribbean property to life
allows us to honor St. Maarten's beauty and distinct character while shaping a
new level of hospitality for the region.”
The Setai brand is known for its Miami Beach flagship. In
2018, the brand was introduced to Tel Aviv as a Leading Hotels of the World property
in the historic old Jaffa region, followed by a third location in the Sea of
Galilee in Israel.
