Hudson
Yards project to include Wynn resort. New York-based Related Companies/Oxford Properties Group and Las Vegas-based Wynn Resorts revealed new details for the proposed $12 billion Hudson Yards project in Manhattan, which, if approved, would include
a 1,500-key Wynn New York resort that would anchor the development, a 5.6-acre public park and 1,500 new housing units. There is no mention of a casino in their news release, but Wynn is one of several companies vying for gaming rights in New York.
IHG
adding 3 Crowne Plazas in Japan. Tokyo-based IHG ANA Hotels Group Japan is partnering with Montreal and Geneva-based Hotel Management International Ltd. to rebrand three hotels to the ANA Crowne Plaza brand in Japan. Totaling 539 rooms, the three
Crowne Plaza hotels will undergo extensive renovations through the first half of 2026 as they convert to ANA Crowne Plaza Kochi, ANA Crowne Plaza Chiryu and ANA Crowne Plaza Hamamatsu. They will join a portfolio of more than 20 ANA Crowne Plaza hotels
across Japan and more than 400 worldwide. IHG Hotels & Resorts has more than 47 hotels in Japan, with 15 in its pipeline.
Pandox
acquires 3 in London. Stockholm-based Pandox AB has acquired three extended-stay hotels in central London for £230 million ($302.6 million). The portfolio includes three Residence Inn by Marriott hotels: the 315-key Residence Inn by Marriott London
Kensington, the 101-key Residence Inn by Marriott London Bridge and the 87-key Residence Inn by Marriott Tower Bridge. All three hotels are operated by Axiom Hospitality, which now operates eight Pandox hotels in the U.K. The acquisition is financed
by available cash funds and a new green bank loan.
New CEO for Aspen Hospitality. Aspen, Colorado-based Aspen One, the parent company of Aspen Hospitality, Aspen Skiing Company, and Aspen Ventures, has named Jeff Toscano as CEO of Aspen Hospitality. Toscano has three decades of experience in the
luxury lifestyle market and will join the team in a transition from current leader Alinio Azevedo starting on September 16. Most recently, he served as executive vice president of luxury & lifestyle hotels at Highgate. He has held executive roles
at Hyatt, Davidson Hotels & Resorts, Two Roads Hospitality, Denihan Hospitality Group, and Starwood Hotels & Resorts.

Hogback add in Washington. The Hotel Group (THG), an affiliate of Alpharetta, Georgia-based Hotel Equities, is partnering with Yakima, Washington-based Hogback Development Co. and has acquired land to develop a Marriott StudioRes in Moses Lake, Washington.
The Marriott StudioRes Moses Lake will be the fifth hotel development that THG and Hogback have partnered to build.
Marriott
adds in Brazil. Marriott International has signed an agreement with Amazonas, Brazil-based Fametro Group to convert an iconic property in the capital city of the Amazonas to a Tribute Portfolio Hotel. The former Tropical Hotel Manaus, which originally
opened in 1976, is scheduled for a phased opening starting at the end of 2024. Marriott’s Tribute portfolio has nearly 120 hotels across over 25 countries and territories.
TPG adds 2 to management portfolio. Atlanta-based Peachtree Hospitality recently chose McKinney, Texas-based TPG Hotel & Resorts to manage two Marriott-branded properties in Augusta, Georgia: the 124-key Residence Inn August and the 88-key SpringHill Suites
Augusta. In January 2023, Peachtree selected TPG Hotels to manage 10 of its properties.
US hotels
up YOY. The U.S. hotel industry from August 18-24 reported positive comparisons year over year, according to CoStar data. Occupancy was 66.1% (up 1.7%); ADR was $154.80 (up 2.7%); RevPAR was $102.30 (up 4.5%). Among the Top 25 markets, Houston saw
the highest year-over-year occupancy lift (up 31.7% to 76.1%); driven by the Democratic National Convention, Chicago posted the largest increases in ADR (up 41.8% to $215.60) and RevPAR (up 51.1% to $156.32). Chicago’s occupancy rose 6.5% to 72.5%.
The steepest RevPAR declines were seen in Las Vegas (down 14.2% to $112.09) and Nashville (down 11.3% to $96.11).
Minor
debuting Avani in Singapore. Minor Hotels is launching its Avani Hotels & Resorts lifestyle brand in Singapore by opening a new 13-story hotel in the first quarter of 2027. Minor is partnering with Singapore-based Kajima Development and Abu Dhabi-based
Alwathba Investment to develop the 200-key hotel. Avani currently operates 42 hotels and resorts in 24 countries and Minor plans to expand Avani’s footprint to nearly 100 hotels and resorts by the end of 2026, with openings in Thailand, China and
the Seychelles scheduled for later this year.
Hyatt
adds in Germany. Hyatt Hotels Corp. is opening the Brunfels Hotel in Mainz, Germany, the newest addition to its The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand. The five-story, 127-key is the third Hyatt property in the city.
IHCL
expands Gateway brand. The Indian Hotels Co. Ltd. Is launching a new revised brand with the opening of the 151-key Gateway Bekal in Kerala, India. The brand roll-out coincides with Gateway openings in Nashik, Coonoor, Madurai and Chikmagalur. IHCL
says the current brand portfolio of 17 hotels will scale to 100 hotels by 2030.
Wyndham
adds in Jammu. Jammu, India-based Triple Shas signed a franchise agreement with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts for a new Ramada Encore by Wyndham brand in Jammu. The 54-key hotel is scheduled to open in 2026.
