Waldorf to Deer Valley. Hilton and Extell Development Co.
signed a management agreement for the ski-in, ski-out Waldorf Astoria Deer
Valley Resort and Residences in Utah. Expected to debut in 2028, the resort
will be located within the Deer Valley East Village, the first major public
alpine ski resort to be developed in North America in over 40 years. Highlights
of the resort will include 132 keys and 105 one-to six-bedroom branded
residences; a 15,000 square foot spa; ski valet and concierge services;
numerous restaurants, bars, and lounges, including Waldorf Astoria’s signature
Peacock Alley; 11,300 square feet of meeting and event space, including a 5,200
square foot ballroom and more.
Treehouse adds Miami Beach. Starwood Hotels’ Treehouse
Hotels brand is adding a property in Miami Beach’s historic district being developed
by owner Keyah Real Estate Group. Treehouse Hotel Miami Beach is scheduled to
open in early 2029 and will be a reimagining of two historically significant
1940s-era buildings—the Art Deco Haddon Hall and Campton Apartments—which will
be combined with a signature new-build tower topped with an ocean-view rooftop.
It joins the original Treehouse Hotel in London and Manchester, England, as
well as the first U.S. location in Silicon Valley, California.
Hyatt names Inclusive Collection SVP. Hyatt Hotels Corp. has
appointed Maria Zarraluqui as SVP, Global Hyatt Inclusive Collection Growth and
Owner Relations, underscoring Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection ambition to further
strengthen its leadership position in the all-inclusive segment. This
appointment, effective March 1, 2026, will help unlock the next phase of growth
for an all-inclusive portfolio that already spans more than 150 resorts and
55,000 rooms across Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe, with plans to
expand further within these regions and beyond. In this newly created role, Zarraluqui
will focus on asset-light growth strategies, resort development and
repositioning, and the cultivation of strategic relationships to support the
long-term expansion of Hyatt’s all-inclusive portfolio. Most recently serving
as vice president of Global Development at Meliá Hotels International, she will
now report directly to Javier Águila, president, Inclusive Collection, Hyatt,
who stepped into his global role in March 2025.
Mr. C Residences to Boca. Key International, a Miami-based
global real estate and investment firm, and Wexford Real Estate Investors, a
West Palm Beach-based real estate development firm, plan to develop Mr. C
Residences Boca Raton. The 12-story luxury residential tower located in the
heart of Downtown Boca Raton marks the latest expansion of the Mr. C brand,
known for its European-inspired lifestyle residential experience. The
development represents Boca Raton’s first newly announced branded residential
project in more than a decade. Douglas Elliman Development Marketing is leading
exclusive sales and marketing for the residences starting this spring, with
prices starting at $1.7 million. Mr. C Residences Boca Raton will
feature 133 private residences with two- to three-bedroom layouts.
First Minor Reserve Collection. Minor Hotels, Bangkok, has signed
its first property under its new luxury collection brand, Minor Reserve
Collection. Slated to launch in 2028, Aventora Resort Baía Formosa, Minor
Reserve Collection, will be located in Brazil’s Rio Grande do Norte in the
northeast of the country, in an area recognized as a key destination for
eco-tourism. Owned by Gremi International Group, Aventora Resort Baía Formosa,
Minor Reserve Collection, will establish itself as a landmark luxury
destination in Baía Formosa in the emerging tourism region of northeastern
Brazil. The new build resort will showcase 50 guest rooms and 28 branded
residences, creating opportunities for ownership within the property.
Newport Hospitality adds in Easton, Ohio. Williamsburg,
Virginia-based Newport Hospitality Group has added the Hilton Garden Inn
Columbus Easton and Homewood Suites Columbus Easton, Ohio, to its portfolio.
Owned by Har and Rani Bhatnagar, the dual-branded properties are located
adjacent to Easton Town Center, a popular open-air destination offering
shopping, dining, entertainment, and business activity. Opened in December
2021, the two hotels total 240 guestrooms. The addition further strengthens
Newport’s Hilton partnership, bringing the company’s Hilton-managed portfolio
to 14 hotels.
Sonesta grows MOD. Sonesta International Hotels Corp. announced
the affiliation of four MOD Collection by Sonesta properties. Pocono Mountain
Villas, MOD Collection by Sonesta in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; New Smyrna
Waves, MOD Collection By Sonesta in New Smyrna Beach, Florida; Grand Seas, MOD
Collection by Sonesta in Daytona Beach, Florida; and Summer Bay, MOD Collection
by Sonesta in Orlando, Florida. These affiliations add 1,564 keys to the
Sonesta portfolio. In June 2023, Sonesta introduced MOD Collection by Sonesta and
offered the soft brand for franchising. Currently, there are nine MOD hotels
open and operating across North America in Alberta, California, Florida,
Massachusetts, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Texas.
