PPHE's options. Amsterdam’s PPHE Hotel Group Ltd. has
confirmed that it is now considered to be in an “offer period.” Reports suggest
the operator of Park Plaza and Art'otel hotels and other brands has not
received any offer after its biggest shareholders announced they are
considering options such as a partial monetization of their stakes or
contributing growth capital. Founder Eli Papouchado and PPHE President Boris
Ivesha collectively own approximately 44% of the voting rights and said they
were considering options, including a potential move to take the company
private.
PM adds to Modus collection. Management company PM Hotel
Group, under its Modus Hotels by PM Hotel Group collection, has been selected
to manage Avila Village Inn, a boutique-style property located in Avila Beach
on the central coast of California. Coming off a refresh of all guest rooms and
suites, 48 rooms feature a mix of kings and two-queen layouts and suites
overlooking Avila Valley. PM Hotel Group now operates approximately 90 hotels
and resorts across the United States.
2026 UK forecast. PwC publish a 2026 U.K. hotel forecast
suggesting London RevPAR growth of 1.8% and occupancy growth of 1.7%. For the
U.K. regions, PwC forecast 1.5% RevPAR growth and 1.2% occupancy growth. It
added that despite a backdrop of economic headwinds and rising operational
costs, the market continues to demonstrate stability supported by resilient
international demand, event-led travel, and a steady recovery in domestic
leisure.
Kerzner goes big in KSA. Kerzner International
Holdings Ltd. has signed a deal for Atlantis Resort and Branded Residences and
One&Only Resort and Private Homes developments in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in
partnership with Midad Real Estate. They will be located on Jeddah’s historic
Red Sea waterfront within the Jeddah Central Project. Atlantis Jeddah will
encompass 800 guest rooms, suites, and a collection of branded residences, as
well as more than 20 culinary concepts, the Aquaventure Waterpark and Lost
Chambers Aquarium. The One&Only will include seven specialty restaurants,
as well as the brand’s Club One with padel and pickleball courts, and event
space
Kempinski hires for China. Kempinski Hotel has appointed
Alan Chin as managing director for Greater China and Mongolia and general
manager of Key International Hotels Management Co. Ltd, in a move to strengthen
the group’s presence and accelerate growth in China. Chin will join Kempinski’s
Group Executive Committee and oversee the brand’s operations and development
across the region. Prior to joining Kempinski, he held senior roles at Accor
and the China Hospitality Fund, where he led product and project development
and investment site sourcing. He joined Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts in
2010 and, over 15 years with the group, held several leadership roles.
Accor deal for Africa. Accor has signed a master development
agreement with Mayan Properties, a subsidiary of Resources Investment, to
develop five hotels across Sub-Saharan Africa, adding over 1,100 keys to the group’s
regional portfolio. The collaboration builds on the signing of Novotel
Nouakchott in Mauritania, a 154-key new-build project, and Mövenpick Moroni in
Comoros, a 159-key conversion, with four additional projects to follow in key
destinations. Accor currently operates more than 175 properties across Africa,
representing more than 33,000 keys across 15 brands and 60-plus properties in
development.
Mövenpick to Nigeria. Accor has announced strategic
agreement with John Williams Hotels & Resorts and Boulevard Hotel Group to
launch Mövenpick and Mövenpick Living in Abuja, Nigeria. Set to open in Q1
2026, the development will rise in Abuja’s Central Business District and feature
138 hotel rooms and 36 serviced apartments. Accor currently operates four
properties in Nigeria under the ibis, Novotel, and Mövenpick brands.
Meininger adds Madrid. Meininger Hotels, through a strategic
partnership with BNP Paribas Real Estate and Therus Investment, is developing a
hybrid property in Madrid at Avenida del Mediterraneo 44, just 500 meters from
the famous Retiro Park. The new property will span over 7,700 square meters and
feature 193 rooms, 691 beds, and 15 parking spaces. The opening is scheduled
for the end of 2027. The focus will be on quadruple rooms (90 rooms),
complemented by 39 twin rooms, 40 triple rooms, 11 quintuple rooms, and 13
sextuple rooms.
