Minor wants to add 50 in India. Bangkok-based Minor Hotels is targeting 50 new openings in India within the
next decade. The company will focus on the upper upscale and luxury
hotel segments with brands like Anantara, Avani and NH Collection. Minor thinks
the Avani brand will address the demand for lifestyle hotels in the country,
while the NH Collection will look for conversion opportunities. It also thinks
there are opportunities for its NH Hotels in second-tier cities or near
airports.
Lexington in NYC refinances. The Lexington Hotel in
New York City has completed a $155 million refinancing deal. The hotel is owned
by a joint venture of MCR, Island Capital Group and Three Wall Capital. Walker
& Dunlap secured the financing through lender Hudson Bay Capital. The 28-story,
94-year-old hotel was acquired by MCR in 2021.
First Club Med in Middle East. Club Med is looking to
open its first resort in the Middle East through a partnership with the Oman
Tourism Development Company (OMRAN Group) and Royal Court Affairs. The $100
million Club Med Musandam project is expected to have 300 rooms and will be
located in the Musandam Peninsula.
Royal Goat Hotel in UK sells. The 32-key Royal Goat
Hotel in Beddgelert, North Wales, U.K. has been acquired by Grant Kangley and
family from David and Valerie Cattrall for an undisclosed amount. The new
owners plan to renovate the property which was built in 1802.
Marriott adds AC in SW China. Marriott
is opening its first AC Hotels by Marriott in Southwest China with the 240-key AC
Hotel Chengdu North. AC Hotels have more than 225 properties in 33 countries.
IHG adds in Bangkok. IHG Hotels & Resorts is
partnering with property developer Magnolia Quality Development Corp. (MQDC) to open the 274-key Hotel Indigo The Forestias Bangkok, which is scheduled
to open in 2026. IHG has 39 hotels across nine brands in Thailand with 37 in
the pipeline.
Kempinski entering Vietnam. Kempinski Hotels is entering
Vietnam with the signing of the 100-key Kempinski Saigon River. The
hotel is being developed by Vietnam-based Ecopark Corp. Kempinski currently
operates 82 luxury hotels across 35 countries, and has more than 28 hotels in
its pipeline.
Hilton opening 10 resorts in Europe. Hilton said it
will open 10 new resorts in Greece, Malta, Spain, Italy and Croatia through the
end of June. Three of the properties are already open, including the 132-key Numo
Ierapetra Beach Resort Crete, the Curio Collection by Hilton in Greece, The
Club Cala San Miguel Hotel Ibiza, Curio Collection by Hilton in Spain and the DoubleTree
by Hilton Malta in Qawra. Scheduled to open later this month are the 54-key Keight
Hotel Opatija, Curio Collection by Hilton in Croatia, Mangia’s Santa Teresa
Sardinia, Curio Collection by Hilton in Italy,
the Isla Brown Chania Crete Resort and Isla Brown Corinthia Resort &
Spa, both part of the Curio Collection by Hilton in Greece. Hilton is also reopening
the Domes Aulūs Elounda, Curio Collection by Hilton in Greece this month. The Cala
San Miguel Hotel Ibiza and Semeli Coast Mykonos Resort, both part of the Curio
Collection by Hilton in Greece, will open in June.
Accor adds in Brisbane. Accor is adding the 179-key
Mercure Brisbane Spring Hill in Queensland, Australia. The hotel was previously
operated independently as the Pacific Hotel Brisbane but the hotels owners, the
Singh family, signed Accor to a management agreement. This will be Accor’s 19th
hotel in Brisbane and third Mercure in the city.
New IHCL in Sarnath. Indian Hotel Co. Ltd. has
signed a new Gateway hotel in Sarnath, Uttar Pradesh in India. Sarnath is
globally one of the four most important places of pilgrimage for Buddhists. IHCL
has 24 hotels in Uttar Pradash with 11 in its pipeline.
