Marriott Vacation
Club expanding. The Marriott Vacation Clubs, a portfolio of
vacation ownership brands operated by Marriott Vacations Worldwide, has
announced the Marriott Vacation Clubs City Collection, which consists of
branded properties, including those formerly branded as Marriott Vacation Club
Pulse. The portfolio is located in seven cities in the U.S. and Bangkok.
Marriott Vacation Club also announced opening a seven-story, approximately
110-key vacation ownership property in Waikiki, Hawaii, in 2024. It has also
announced plans to add the first two Westin Vacation Club properties to its
City Collection portfolio, with a 50-key resort in Charleston, South Carolina,
that will begin development in 2025 and a proposed property in Savannah,
Georgia, that is expected to break ground in 2026.
Dolce & Gabbana opening Miami condo hotel. Luxury fashion
brand Dolce & Gabbana is opening a 250-key condo hotel in Miami in
collaboration with Manhattan-based JDS Development Group. The 888 Brickell
Condo Hotel is the company’s first real estate and hotel project in the U.S.
and will be Miami’s tallest building at 1,049 feet.
Travelodge surpasses £1B in revenue. UK-based
Travelodge surpassed £1 billion for the first time in its 39-year history. The
low-cost hotel chain said events like Eurovision, Wimbledon, and the World
Travel Market boosted its performance. CEO Jo Boydell said the company opened
four hotels in 2023 and has six planned for 2024, but as market conditions
returned to normal, the company would aim to open 15-20 properties a year.
Boydell said Travelodge has identified 300 target locations throughout the UK.
Archer Hotel Capital acquires in Dublin. Amsterdam-based
Archer Hotel Capital has been identified as the buyer of the Shelbourne Hotel
in Dublin from Beverly Hills, California-based Kennedy Wilson for an estimated
€260m.
Proper Hospitality adds in Hamptons. Santa Monica,
California-based Proper Hospitality will manage the Montauk Yacht Club in New
York. The 107-key luxury seaside resort and marina in The Hamptons is owned by
Safe Harbor Marinas and will open in May. Proper operates luxury hospitality properties
under The Collective, a group of independent hotels.
Aimbridge adds in England. Aimbridge
Hospitality EMEA will operate the Residence Inn by Marriott aparthotel in
Manchester, England. The 155-key property is owned by Park Hotels Holding and
asset managed by Ciel Capital.
