Crowne Plaza to Mexico City. IHG Hotels & Resorts has
signed a new-build Crowne Plaza hotel along Mexico City’s Avenida de los
Insurgentes. IHG will collaborate on the project with owner Fideicomiso
1870/2014 and designer Interaq. The property is scheduled to break ground in
early 2024 ahead of a planned 2026 opening, the 230-room Crowne Plaza Mexico
City Insurgentes will mark the brand’s return to the nation’s capital and join
a roster of seven currently open Mexico properties. The brand’s growth plan
includes the renovation of three-fourths of its existing Americas estate by
2025 and the addition of more than 120 global hotels.
Sage takes over Shinola. Hotel owner Bedrock has named
Denver-based Sage Hospitality Group as its operating partner of Detroit’s
Shinola Hotel. Sage will oversee daily operations and management of the
boutique property as it joins the Sage Independent Hotel Collection, part of
the company’s portfolio of more than 120 hotels, restaurants, and venues across
16 states and the District of Columbia. “We are delighted to embark on a
long-term strategic partnership with Bedrock, Shinola Hotel’s owner, as well as
Bedrock Manufacturing, the parent company of Shinola,” said Daniel del Olmo,
president of hotels and restaurants at Sage Hospitality Group.
Hyatt to double Canadian footprint. Hyatt Hotels Corp. will
double its footprint in Canada by the end of 2026, with more than executed
managed and franchised agreements across its brands. This includes the second
hotel in Canada within The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand in Ontario wine
country. The 140-room Hyatt Centric Winnipeg Downtown (2025) is expected
to be the second Hyatt Centric hotel in Canada and will owned and operated by
The Kothari Group. The 135-room Hyatt Centric Victoria – Old Town (2026)
will be the first Hyatt branded hotel in Victoria, British Columbia and will
join Hyatt’s Boundless Collection portfolio in Canada. The property is owned by
Chard Development Ltd. By the end of 2026, Hyatt expects to have an established
brand presence in several leisure markets that currently do not have a Hyatt
hotel including the Hyatt House Port Elgin (2026) and the Hyatt Place
Whitehorse (2025). Another seven hotels are coming to airport locations
between 2024 and 2026.
IHG franchise in Dubai. IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed
a franchise agreement for its second Vignette Collection hotel in Dubai in
partnership with The Heart of Europe, the flagship project under Kleindienst
Group. Scheduled for a grand opening in January 2026 is the 150-room Marbella
Resort Hotel, Vignette Collection The World Islands Dubai within The World
Islands – an archipelago of manmade islands located in the Arabian Gulf, off
the coast of Dubai. IHG currently operates 108 hotels across eight brands in
the Middle East.
Two IHG hotels for Punjab. IHG Hotels & Resorts signed a
management agreement with NK Sharma Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. to develop two hotels
in India’s Chandigarh tri-city area – the 150-key Crowne Plaza Chandigarh
Zirakpur and the 200-room Holiday Inn & Suites Chandigarh Zirakpur.
Currently under construction, both hotels are scheduled to open in January
2027.
Good RevPAR week for SF. U.S. hotel performance for October
22-28 decreased from the previous week but showed positive year-over-year
comparisons, according to CoStar data. Occupancy was 66% (+0.7% YOY); ADR
was $160.89 (+3.9% YOY); and RevPAR was $106.16 (+4.6% YOY). Among
the Top 25 Markets, Minneapolis saw the largest year-over-year lift in
occupancy (+12.7% to 64.5%). New York City posted the highest ADR increase
(+12.7% to $365.05). San Francisco reported the largest jump in RevPAR (+22.7%
to $178.32). Tampa saw the steepest RevPAR decline (-16.9% to $98.63).
Resolute Road grows. Management company Resolute Road
Hospitality, Boise, Idaho, has added two hotels, both located in Oregon and
owned by Evergreen Hospitality Development Group. The addition of the 152-room Hampton
Inn & Suites Portland Tigard, Tigard, Oregon, and the 73-room Hampton Inn
& Suites Sherwood Portland, Sherwood, Oregon, expands Resolute Road's
management footprint in the Pacific Northwest, where they already manage assets
in Astoria, Bend, Redmond and Portland.
Dellisart adds to development team. Owner-operator Dellisart
LLC has named Jeffrey Rake as regional vice president of Business Development
for the Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina-based company. Rake joins Dellisart
from XBD Hospitality and previously held positions with Marcus & Millichap
and MMGY Global.
