Westbrook selling Ritz
in DC. New York City-based Westbrook Partners,
which on Friday sold its Ritz-Carlton hotel in New York City to Gencom, is also
in the process of selling its Ritz-Carlton hotel in Washington, D.C. to an
undisclosed buyer, according to a Bloomberg report.
$99M refi in DC. Washington, D.C.-based CarrAmerica has secured a $99 million refinance
for the 278-key InterContinental Hotel Washington, D.C. - The Wharf, according
to The Commercial Observer. Newmark arranged the loan through Morgan Stanley.
Aimbridge names LATAM
president. Aimbridge Hospitality has named Alex Fiz as
president of its Latin America (LATAM) Division and the Aimbridge All-Inclusive
Division, effective March 2. Leandro Castillo, current president of Aimbridge
LATAM, will retire from Aimbridge effective Feb. 28 and will serve in an
advisory capacity to ensure a smooth transition for the region. During his
tenure, Castillo led regional operations and oversaw the continued development
of Aimbridge’s LATAM platform. Fiz brings extensive operating and commercial experience
throughout Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, built during his 34‑year
career with Marriott International. Fiz also led Marriott’s all‑inclusive
strategy and operations in the Caribbean and Latin America. Most recently, he
oversaw a multimillion-dollar, multi‑asset transformation of Marriott’s owned
portfolio in Barbados.
Deka acquires in
Austria. Frankfurt, Germany-based Deka Immobilien
has acquired the 303-key lifestyle hotel Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere in Austria
for around €92 million on behalf of its WestInvest InterSelect fund. The
property, which opened in 2019, is leased long-term to MHP and operated under
the Hyatt Regency brand. The seller was a joint venture between subsidiaries of
Hyatt Hotels and Signa Development Selection AG. First hotel investment by
WestInvest InterSelect in Vienna.
Marriott adds brand in
China. Marriott is opening Artik Suzhou Apartments
by Marriott Bonvoy, the Asian debut of its apartment brand. Marriott now has 26
of its brands in China.
Minor leaving Cuba. Bangkok, Thailand-based
Minor Hotels is withdrawing from Cuba and ceasing its management of the two NH
hotels in Cuba's capital, the 200-key NH Capri and the 31-key NH Collection
Victoria in Havana. Minor said hotel occupancy rates barely exceeded 20%.
