Omni adds
12th in Texas. Dallas-based Omni Hotels & Resorts has broken ground on the Omni Midland
Hotel, marking the company’s 12th property in Texas. Developed in partnership
with Midland Downtown Renaissance, LP, the 143-key hotel is scheduled to open
in late 2027 in West Texas. The hotel will feature several F&B venues, has
16,000 sq. ft. of event space and is within walking distance of the
George H.W. Bush Convention Center.
New
Corinthia in Italy. London-based Corinthia Hotels is partnering with entrepreneur Gaetano Buglisi
and his BGenera Group to develop, lease and operate a luxury
resort, Borgo di Perolla, in Tuscany, Italy. The 80-key hotel will include
suites, private villas and is scheduled to open in 2030. The signing will be Corinthia's
third hotel in Italy, following the opening of Corinthia Rome in March 2026,
with Corinthia Lake Como scheduled to launch in 2028.
Room00
secures €330M. Madrid-based Room00 Next Gen Hospitality has announced plans to invest more
than €330 million in 2026 to accelerate its expansion across Southern Europe
and into London for the first time. The company will add 20 new properties and
1,421 rooms throughout Spain, Italy, Portugal, and the U.K. as part of a
broader strategy to reach 200 properties and 15,000 rooms in the coming years.
Last year, Room00 secured €400 million in funding from New York City-based
global Investment firm King Street Capital Management.
Loan for
Salt Lake City. New
York City-based The Domain Companies has secured $102 million in construction
financing from Cottonwood Group to build a 216-key IHG Hotels & Resorts'
Kimpton luxury hotel in Downtown Salt Lake City. The 10-story hotel will
feature a rooftop bar, restaurant, indoor and outdoor terraces, and 7,000 sq.
ft. of meeting and event space. The project is scheduled to be completed by the
first quarter of 2028.
Mill
Creek adds in California. Boca Raton, Florida-based Mill Creek Residential has broken ground on
Modera Neptune, a mixed-use development in Oceanside, California, featuring 359
rental units and a 62-room boutique hotel. The hotel will be horizontally
integrated into the eight-story building but will operate independently and
will not provide access to the residential portion of the community. First
move-ins are anticipated for fall 2028.
Orient
Express adds in Venice. Orient Express is opening Orient Express Venezia at Palazzo Donà
Giovannelli in Venice, Italy. The 47-key hotel, owned by Arsenale Group, is
reimagined from a 15th-century building. The development comes as the brand
continues its expansion with the forthcoming Orient Express Sailing Yachts and
the future return of the L’Orient Express.
Langham
adds in China. Hong
Kong-based Langham Hospitality Group has signed a management contract for
The Langham, Ningbo, a luxury hotel to be opened in Ningbo’s Haishu District in
China. The 75-key property will be the group’s third hotel in the city. It will
accompany Cordis, Dongqian Lake, Ningbo and Langham Place, Ningbo Culture Plaza
to form a strategic cluster in one of China’s leading maritime centers.
Meliá
expands into Tunisia. Palma, Spain-based Meliá Hotels International is entering the Tunisia market
through a strategic alliance with Management Hospitality Group. Meliá
will open five new properties that will gradually join its portfolio, aiming to
reach 3,000 rooms in the destination by 2030. The expansion begins this year
with the opening of a 307-key resort operating under the Meliá brand in Mahdia.
The growth plan includes the addition of four hotels between 2027 and 2029 in
Tabarka, Monastir, Djerba and Tunis City.
Cycas
Hospitality rebrands. Cycas Hospitality is merging with its parent company, Amsterdam-based Vertiq
Capital, to become Vertiq Hospitality Partners. The announcement comes as the
group continues to expand its European footprint, adding more than 400 rooms
across the U.K. and France this year, with further openings set to be announced
in the next few months. Operating from offices in Amsterdam and London, the
group manages a portfolio of more than 35 hotels and 6,000 keys in eight
different countries.
Bahia Principe reorganizes brands. Palma, Spain-based Bahia Principe Hotels &
Resorts has refreshed its visual identity and brand architecture and organized
its hotel brands into two sub-brands: Escape for adults-only and Explore for
all ages. Last week, Hyatt and Bahia Principe’s parent company, Grupo Piñero,
announced that Bahia Principe’s hotels have joined Hyatt’s all-inclusive
portfolio.
