Meyer
Jabara, Pappas acquire hotel. Danbury, Connecticut-based Meyer Jabara Hotels and
Houston-based Pappas Hotels have acquired the 110-key Courtyard by Marriott
Clemson in South Carolina from an undisclosed seller for an undisclosed amount.
The hotel, which will begin renovations this summer, is the only upscale
franchised hotel in the market. This is the second property to be managed by
Meyer Jabara Hotels for Pappas Hotels and its fourth property in South
Carolina. This deal marks Meyer Jabara’s fifth owned and 15th managed Marriott property.
Kempinski,
BTG Hotels partnership. Geneva-based Kempinski Hotels and Beijing-based BTG Hotels Co. Ltd. have
announced a “new chapter” in their strategic partnership for hotels in China.
The plan includes expanding the Kempinski brand in China and launching a new
lifestyle hospitality brand to reach 200 hotels in China over the next five
years. The plan also includes continuing to strategically support the Bristoria
brand portfolio and strengthen the collaboration to expand the global expansion
of the NUO brand. The agreement also calls for reinforcing the cooperation on
membership system integration.
Stonebridge
adds in New Jersey. Denver-based Stonebridge is adding the 159-key MC Hotel in Montclair, New
Jersey, to its portfolio of managed hotels. The property is owned in a
partnership with CSP MC Partners LP, an affiliate of Morristown, New
Jersey-based Circle Squared Alternative Investments.
Magellim
REIM adaptive reuse in Paris. Magellim REIM, a subsidiary of France-based Magellim Group,
has acquired a mixed-use asset in Paris that it intends to turn into a high-end
boutique hotel with 39 rooms. Armen Asset Management assisted with the
transaction.
Hilton
adds 2 in Italy. Hilton is partnering with Forimi Italia Spa, which is part of Gruppo Roscioli,
to develop two properties in Italy. The properties include the 96-key Canopy by
Hilton Milan Duomo, which will be the first Canopy in Italy and is scheduled to
open later this year, and the 181-key Hilton Garden Inn Rome Colosseum, which
is scheduled to open in the summer of 2026.
Elaine
Wynn dies at 82. Elaine
Wynn, the former gaming executive and philanthropist who co-founded a casino
empire in Las Vegas with her ex-husband Steve Wynn, has died at the age of 82. Born
in New York in 1942, Elaine Wynn married Steve Wynn in 1963, and they founded
what would become Mirage Resorts, the company behind The Mirage, Treasure
Island and Bellagio. The couple divorced in 1986 but remarried in 1991, and
after selling Mirage Resorts to MGM Grand, they later co-founded Wynn Resorts
in 2000, for which she served as a director. They divorced again in 2010, but
Elaine Wynn kept millions of shares in Wynn Resorts and remained an influential
voice in its operations. She was a member of the board of directors and held
the title of largest individual shareholder before she was surpassed by Tilman
Fertitta last year.
Wyndham
adds in Greece. Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has signed a franchise agreement with Mercan
Greece for the 150-key Wyndham Corfu Acharavi, a beachfront hotel in Corfu,
Greece. This partnership marks Mercan’s entry into the Greek hotel market. The
hotel currently operates as Corfu Acharavi Hotel and will be renovated and
upgraded as part of its repositioning.
RLJ
executive leaving. Bethesda, Maryland-based RLJ Lodging Trust disclosed the upcoming departure of
executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary Chad Perry.
According to the company’s recent 8-K filing with the SEC, Perry will leave his
position on May 9 to pursue principal investing opportunities.
Accor
adds in India. Accor
has signed an agreement for 200-key Pullman Dehradun Airport in India, which is
scheduled to open in early 2029.
