Hospitality acquires in Brooklyn. New
York City-based EOS Hospitality has acquired 183-key The William Vale Hotel in
Brooklyn as a stalking horse bidder out of bankruptcy for $177 million, marking
the company’s first asset in the market. The transaction was approved by the
U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York on May 29. The
acquisition ends a three-year ownership and litigation process as the asset was
the center of a dispute by the property’s developers, Yoel Goldman and Zelig
Weiss. The hotel opened in 2016.
Hilton has
goal to reach 300 hotels in CALA. Following a record-breaking year of growth, Hilton has a
plan to reach 300 hotels in the Caribbean and Latin America in the next three
years. The company opened nearly 20 new hotels and more than 4,000 rooms in the
region in 2023. Hilton now has 225 open hotels in Caribbean and Latin America
with a pipeline of more than 100 hotels and plans to enter seven new countries
and territories in the coming years, including Bermuda and Paraguay in 2024. Hilton
also says it will introduce two new brands to the region: Spark by Hilton in
economy and Home2Suites by Hilton in extended-stay.
IHG plans to double Hotel Indigo resorts. IHG
Hotels & Resorts plans to double its Hotel Indigo resort portfolio over the
next three to five years. IHG currently has 15 open Hotel Indigo resorts
worldwide, with 34 in its pipeline. Notable recent openings include Hotel
Indigo La Paz Puerta Cortés (the first of two Hotel Indigo resorts scheduled to
open in Mexico this year) and Hotel Indigo Grand Cayman. IHG plans to open five
more Hotel Indigo resorts this year in locations like Palau, Greater China and
Oman. Overall, there are currently 154 open Hotel Indigos across 25 countries.
LE market report on Charlotte.
Lodging Econometrics has released hotel development data for the Charlotte,
North Carolina market ahead of the Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition
and Conference (HITEC). Through the first quarter, Charlotte has 67 projects
and 7,772 rooms in its construction pipeline, making it 15th in the U.S. by
project county. There are currently 11 projects and 1,435 rooms under
construction, with 31 projects and 3,466 rooms scheduled to start in the next
12 months. In addition, there are 25 projects and 2,871 rooms in the early
planning stages. Over 65% of the projects in Charlotte are upscale and upper
midscale brands. The top three submarkets in Charlotte are the Monroe and Rock
Hill area with 14 projects and 1,458 rooms; the Concord and Salisbury area with
11 projects and 897 rooms; and the Charlotte Central Business District (CBD)
area with 9 projects and 1,643 rooms. Charlotte ranks ninth in the U.S. for
conversions, with a combined renovation and conversion total of 17 projects and
1,758 rooms.
Old Edwards Hospitality Group sells.
Highlands, North Carolina-based Old Edwards Hospitality Group has new owners,
as James and Jessica Whitley have purchased the assets from Art and Angela
Williams for an undisclosed amount. The company’s assets include the Old
Edwards Inn and Spa in Highlands, several restaurants and other assets. James
Whitley is co-founder and COO of Athens, Georgia-based Landmark Properties.
Mixed week for US hotels. Hotel
performance in the U.S. was mixed last week, according to the latest data from
CoStar. For the week of June 9-15, occupancy was 70.3% (down 0.6% from 2023);
ADR was $161.70 (up 0.9%) and RevPAR was $113.62 (up 0.3%). San Francisco saw
the highest year-over-year increases in occupancy (up 17.0% to 79.4%), ADR (up
11.3% to $226.70) and RevPAR (up 30.3% to $179.97) for the top 25 markets,
while the steepest RevPAR declines were in New Orleans (down 13.5% to $76.72)
and Los Angeles (down 11.4% to $151.45).
Marriott debuts St. Regis in Oman.
Marriott International is opening its first St. Regis hotel in Oman with the
250-key The St. Regis Al Mouj Muscat Resort in Muscat. St. Regis has more than
55 hotels and resorts worldwide.
IHG debuts Vignette in Vietnam. IHG
Hotels & Resorts is growing its portfolio in Vietnam by introducing its
Vignette Collection in the country through an agreement with Hoi An Pearl Joint
Stock Company. After an extensive renovation, the 128-key Moire Hoi An,
Vignette Collection will join the brand. IHG’s Vignette Collection has 12
hotels worldwide, with 23 in its pipeline, and is planning to reach 100 hotels
by 2031. IHG wants to double its overall portfolio in Vietnam from 18 hotels to
around 44 in the next three years.
Marriott opening first Westin in Vietnam.
Marriott International is debuting its Westin brand in Vietnam by opening
207-key The Westin Resort & Spa Cam Ranh on the country’s south-central
coast. Westin Hotels & Resorts has more than 235 locations in 40 countries.
Meliá adds first Innside in Greece. Meliá
Hotels International is expanding its presence in Greece by introducing its
premium lifestyle brand, Innside by Meliá. The 85-key Innside Crete Elounda
will be located in Elounda, Crete and will be Meliá’s fifth hotel in Greece. It
is scheduled to open in 2025.
IHCL adds in Thimphu. Indian
Hotels Co. Ltd. (IHCL) is expanding its portfolio in Bhutan by signing an
agreement for an 83-key hotel in Thimphu. IHCL signed the partnership with
Yarkey Group for the hotel, which will rebranded and operated under its
SeleQtions brand. IHCL has a global portfolio of 322 hotels, including 99 in
its pipeline.
