Latest news: Acquisitions in Daytona Beach, Tampa; Valencia adding in Texas

PRM Hotel Group buys in Florida. Ormond Beach, Florida-based PRM Hotel Group has acquired the La Playa Hotel redevelopment in Daytona Beach, Florida, from Miami-based Kabani Hotel Group for an undisclosed amount. The 10-story property, built in 1984, has been completely gutted and is ready to be redeveloped into a new hotel.

3H Group acquires in Tampa. Chattanooga, Tennessee-based 3H Group has acquired the Hyatt Place Tampa Airport/Westshore from an undisclosed buyer for an undisclosed amount. Dothan, Alabama-based LBA Hospitality will manage the property. 3H and LBA formed a strategic alliance in 2021 for expansion.

Valencia adds in Texas. Houston-based Valencia Hotel Group is developing its eighth property, the 145-key Caravan Court, in Arlington, Texas. Valencia is partnering with Sam Mahrouq and Walid Joulani of New York City-based Division Hotel Management and has broken ground on the former site of the Caravan Hotel. The hotel is scheduled to open in 2026.

MGM appoints Barr to board. Las Vegas-based MGM Resorts International has named Keith Barr, former CEO of IHG Hotels & Resorts, to its board of directors. Barr served as CEO of IHG from 2017 to 2023 and stepped down last May. He held multiple roles for IHG, including chief commercial officer, CEO of Greater China, COO of Australia and New Zealand and multiple roles in the Americas.

Marriott adds 600th in APEC. Marriott International is opening its 600th property in the Asia Pacific excluding China (APEC) region with the 285-key Adelaide Marriott Hotel in Australia. Marriott has more than 50 hotels in the region, with around 40 more in its pipeline. The first Marriott hotel in the APEC region opened in Sydney in 1989 with the Sydney Harbour Marriott Hotel at Circular Quay.

IHG opening two in Vietnam. IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a two-hotel deal with Hai Thanh Hung Investment Joint Stock Co. and Vietnam Royal Investment and Construction Co. Ltd. in Quang Binh province of Vietnam for the 68-key voco Quang Binh Resort and 232-key Crowne Plaza Quang Binh City Centre. Both properties are scheduled to open in 2025. These will be IHG’s first two properties in Quang Binh and its 18th property in Vietnam across six brands.

JW Marriott in Ho Chi Minh City. Singapore-based Mapletree Investments and Marriott International signed an agreement to operate the group’s existing hotel and serviced apartments in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and convert one of its hotels into a JW Marriott. The JW Marriott Hotel and Suites Saigon is expected to have a 21-story hotel tower and a 31-story serviced apartment tower. The hotel would be the third JW Marriott in Vietnam and Marriott’s 24th property in the country.

Lemon Tree adds in India. New Delhi, India-based Lemon Tree Hotels has signed a franchise agreement for the 50-key Keys Select by Lemon Tree Hotels at Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, which is scheduled to open in fiscal year 2026. Lemon Tree has more than 110 hotels worldwide (including 60 in India), with another 50 in its pipeline.
