Latest news: Aprirose sells in London; LA hotel rebrands; Marriott growth in EMEA

Aprirose sells in London. London-based Aprirose has sold the 30-key Karma Sanctum hotel in London’s Soho neighborhood to Madrid-based Tenigla for £22 million. Aprirose acquired the hotel, which has rock and roll-themed interiors, in 2021. Hotel Investment Today recently talked to Aprirose about its recent M&A and its U.K. acquisition strategy going forward.

LA hotel rebranding. The Lum Hotel Los Angeles Stadium District is undergoing renovations and will be rebranded into a Tapestry by Hilton property. The 179-key hotel is owned by San Francisco-based Chartres Lodging Group and is managed by Chevy Chase, Maryland-based PM Hotel Group. The rebrand is scheduled to be completed in late 2025.

Marriott growth in EMEA. Marriott International had another year of strong growth across Europe, the Middle East & Africa (EMEA) with a record-breaking 291 deals representing more than 34,000 rooms in 2024. Marriott The added more than 180 properties to its operating portfolio in EMEA last year, entering three new markets – Luxembourg, Angola and Senegal. The company’s total pipeline for EMEA grew to 596 properties at year-end, representing 104,731 rooms (a 10% increase from the previous year). Conversions drove growth across segments and markets in EMEA, representing 45% of the region’s room signings in 2024.

Man City, Radisson partner for hotel. Premier League soccer team Manchester City is partnering with Radisson Hotel Group to open the 401-key The Medlock hotel in late 2026. The hotel will be connected to Manchester City’s stadium and will be open year-round.

SMHCC expansion in the Philippines. Pasay, Philippines-based SM Prime Holdings Inc.’s unit SM Hotels and Convention Corp. (SMHCC) saw double-digit growth in occupancy amid a rise in demand for travel and MICE. SMHCC also announced it is investing about P15 billion to support its five-year expansion program, which would include developing eight new hotels and two convention centers in key destinations in the Philippines.
