Barcelona's Sofia sold. Barcelona remains a hot deal market as Blasson Property
Investments and Axa are reportedly acquiring from Brookfield the Sofía hotel (part
of Hyatt’s Unbound Collection) in Barcelona for €180 million. Brookfield bought
the hotel in 2021 as part of a €440 million deal to buy Selenta hotels.
Growth for Aprirose. London-based real estate investor Aprirose has acquired the
freehold on the 96-room Travelodge in the affluent suburb of London, Whetstone,
for an undisclosed price. The property is let to Travelodge with 18 years
remaining on the lease. Aprirose’s dedicated platform for owned and operated
hotels now sits at 65 properties, including Delta Hotels by Marriott, DoubleTree
by Hilton and the Qhotels portfolio, which comprises 20 country house, hotel
and spa assets.
$137M deal closes. NewcrestImage and Hospitality Capital Partners have closed
on the acquisition of 16 Marriott International-branded hotels (2,155 rooms) for
$137.3 million from Service Properties Trust, a Massachusetts-based REIT. NewcrestImage
leadership said they were able to complete this transaction by breaking it up
into three deals with three different lenders. The portfolio consists of 13
Courtyard by Marriotts and three Residence Inn by Marriott hotels across nine
states. Eleven of the properties underwent major renovations between 2018 and
2019. HCP and its principals have owned almost 50 hotels in the western United
States, while Dallas-based NewcrestImage owns more than 70 hotels across the
country with almost 8,000 rooms.
