Latest news: Highline buys in Dallas; Miami foreclosure; Leela dives into wellness

Highline acquires in Dallas. Birmingham, Alabama-based Highline Hospitality Partners has acquired the 397-key Hilton DFW Lakes Executive Conference Center from an undisclosed seller for an undisclosed amount, marking the company’s second acquisition in the last month. Plano, Texas-based Avion Hospitality will manage the hotel. The hotel opened in 1983 and has been institutionally owned and maintained with ongoing capital investment in recent years. Highline plans to pursue targeted renovations in the coming years, with a focus on meeting space upgrades.

Miami hotel foreclosure sale. New York developers Joseph and Meyer Chetrit have lost control of the Art Deco Tides Hotel in Miami after a five-year legal battle, with a court-ordered foreclosure sale handing the keys to the lender. The 13-story, 45-room hotel has been shut since Hurricane Irma in 2017 and was auctioned off. According to Bisnow, Miami-based lender Safe Harbor Equity emerged as the winning bidder in the Miami-Dade online foreclosure sale, with the sale recorded at just $10,300. According to a story in Hoodline Miami, Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Thomas Rebull entered a final judgment that pushed principal, fees, and interest to roughly $95.6 million and ordered the property sold to satisfy the debt.  The foreclosure included the hotel and a roughly 28,000 sq. ft. parking garage adjacent to the property. 

Hyatt adds in Santa Monica. Hyatt Hotels Corp. said that the 84-key The Georgian, an oceanfront hotel in Santa Monica, California, has joined The Unbound Collection by Hyatt. The hotel, built in the 1930s, underwent a 2023 restoration by owner and operator Santa Monica-based JB Hotel Group.

Leela acquires first wellness resort. Mumbai-based The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts, has acquired an ultra-luxury resort in Coorg for a reported 5.7 billion Indian rupees ($61.7 million). This marks the brand's entry into wellness-anchored hospitality. The 71 all-villa property, set within 76 acres near Madikeri and surrounded by coffee and spice plantations, will be unveiled as The Leela Coorg Forest Sanctuary later this year. The Leela Coorg Forest Sanctuary features four F&B venues and a 27,000 sq. ft. wellness center as well as a seven-acre lake. Backed by the Brookfield Group, The Leela operates 14 properties across India's premier leisure and business destinations.

West Dallas hotel sells. Dallas-based Atlantic Hotel Group has sold the 103-key The Residence Inn Dallas at The Canyon in West Dallas to a private investment group doing business as Jean Valjean LLC for an undisclosed amount. The extended-stay hotel was built in 2018. Marcus & Millichap represented the seller and procured the buyer.

Wyndham growth for Trademark. Wyndham Hotels & Resorts now has more than 100 hotels open in the U.S. for its Trademark Collection by Wyndham brand. Wyndham said the soft brand has doubled the size of its domestic portfolio in the last five years. Globally, the brand has grown to nearly 350 hotels with more than 100 hotels in the pipeline.

Red Roof growth in 2025. Columbus, Ohio-based Red Roof said it has increased market share, with The Red Collection portfolio leading the way with a 2% gain, and Red Roof Inn gaining 1.1%. The company said it has a pipeline of 3,500 new rooms and new hotel executions increased 35% year-over-year in 2025. Red Roof said it launched new SMS texting technology with Sojern across all of its more than 700 properties, which improved internal quality metrics and increased social scores.

Penn opening in Ohio. Wyomissing, Pennsylvania-based Penn Entertainment is opening the 203-key Hollywood Casino Columbus in Ohio on June 12. The complex will feature a 160,000 sq. ft. gaming facility with slot machines, table games, a retail sportsbook and the largest poker room in Ohio, according to Penn. The facility includes five F&B venues and more than 16,000 sq. ft. of multi-purpose banquet and event space.

Dalata adds in London. Dalata Hotel Group will open its seventh hotel in London, the 370-key Maldron Hotel Kensington, in 2029. The hotel will be situated in a converted office building adjacent to Olympia London, which is currently undergoing a multi-million-pound overhaul.

Zedwell converts in Oxford. London-based Zedwell is converting the Oxenford House in Oxford as part of the company’s U.K. expansion. This builds on the momentum of last year’s launch of the world’s largest capsule hotel within the London Pavilion at Piccadilly Circus, alongside the recent opening of Zedwell Underground Park Lane, the brand’s second subterranean hotel in the U.K.

Aimbridge EMEA adds in the UK. Aimbridge Hospitality EMEA has added the 83-key Bournemouth West Cliff Hotel and Spa in the U.K. to its management portfolio.

Corinthia adds in China. London-based Corinthia Hotels is partnering with ShiLong Industry Co and The Geminus Group to develop the 150-key Corinthia Chengdu, along with 60 branded residences. Slated to open in 2032, the project will occupy a new 225-meter mixed-use tower in the Chengdu high-tech South Central Activity Zone.

YY Group launches robotics trial. Singapore-based YY Group Holding Ltd. has launched a robotics pilot program in Las Vegas, Nevada, to begin testing hospitality and security robots in collaboration with a local Las Vegas robotics company. The pilot program is expected to run for approximately one year, with the goal of evaluating how robotics solutions can improve operational efficiency, service delivery and security across hospitality environments. If the pilot program proves successful, YY Group said the initiative may lead to additional robotics deployments.
