Acquisitions of resorts beside Muirfield in Scotland and in
the Pinehurst region of North Carolina grow portfolio to eight.
LONDON – AJ Capital Partners has expanded its Marine &
Lawn Hotels & Resorts portfolio to eight properties with the acquisition of
the Greywalls Hotel, a historic estate bordering the famed Muirfield Golf
Course in Scotland, as well as the Mid Pines Inn and Pine Needles Lodge that
sit beside golf courses in the Pinehurst region of North Carolina.
No details about the deals were disclosed, but The Pilot in
Sourthern Pines, North Carolina, reported that property records for the land
where Pine Needles Lodge sits sold for $6.88 million and where Mid Pines sits
sold for $5.16 million.
AJ Capital acquired Greywalls Hotel in Gullane, Scotland
from the Weaver family, which has owned the property since 1926. Through a
relationship with The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, guests of
Greywalls will receive access to Muirfield, one of the world’s most exclusive
and revered golf courses—a sixteen-time host of the Open Championship that is
currently ranked #6 globally by Golf Digest.
Marine & Lawn’s in-house design team will lead a
restoration of Greywalls, reimagining its interiors, food and beverage program,
and overall guest experience.
The hotels in North Carolina will also undergo comprehensive
restorations led by AJ Capital’s design team, featuring fully renovated
guestrooms, new dining concepts, and refreshed public spaces.
As part of the expansion, AJ Capital is partnering with the Donald
Ross–designed golf courses—Mid Pines and Pine Needles—to offer hotel guests
priority access and curated golf packages, building on Marine & Lawn’s
vision to elevate these hotels as the premier golf resort in the American
South.
“These acquisitions represent a pivotal milestone for Marine
& Lawn,” said Ben Weprin, Founder of Marine & Lawn Hotels &
Resorts, CEO and Founder of AJ Capital Partners. “Since launching the brand in
2019, our ambition has always been to honor golf’s most legendary locales with
world-class hospitality. The addition of these iconic properties—each with deep
roots in golf’s history—allows us to bring that vision to life on both sides of
the Atlantic.”
