Flynn
refinances six. San
Francisco-based Flynn Properties has refinanced a portfolio of six Courtyard by
Marriott hotels for $54 million. The properties include a 144-key Courtyard
Fairfax Fair Oaks in Virginia, a 146-key Courtyard Baltimore Hunt Valley in
Maryland, a 150-key Courtyard New Carrollton Landover in Maryland, a 158-key
Courtyard Philadelphia Plymouth Meeting in Pennsylvania and two in Texas: a 145-key
Courtyard San Antonio Airport, and a 146-key Courtyard San Antonio Medical
Center. RobertDouglas helped secure the financing.
Noble adds in Jacksonville. Atlanta-based Noble Investment Group has acquired land in Jacksonville for a new Marriott hotel, according to the Jacksonville Business Journal. The land is slated to become a four-story, 124-key StudioRes by Marriott.
Indus
secures $26.4M loan. Columbus, Ohio-based Indus Hotels has secured a $26.4 million loan to
recapitalize the Hampton Inn & Suites in Columbus, according to Commercial
Observer. Peachtree helped secure the 60-month first mortgage loan.
First
Spark in Canada. Hilton and Markham, Ontario-based JM Hospitality are opening the first
Spark by Hilton in Canada with the 72-key Spark by Hilton Toronto Markham.
There are eight other Spark hotels in various stages of development across
Canada. Hilton has 50 open Spark hotels and 275 in its global pipeline.
NC resort
rebranding. The
Blockade Runner Beach Resort in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina, is
undergoing a massive renovation and will rebrand as the Trailborn Surf &
Sound. The 151-key resort is scheduled to reopen under the new name in early
2025. Trailborn has three open hotels in Colorado and North Carolina, with
three more in its pipeline.
Glokal,
Blue Road adds in Miami. Argentina-based Glokal Group is partnering with Miami-based developer
Blue Road to build a 90-key Dolce by Wyndham Miami in Florida. The $40 million
project will be operated by Buenos Aires-based AADESA Hotel Management and Blue
Road and is scheduled to open in 2026.
Warner’s
Manhattan Four Seasons set to reopen. The Four Seasons Hotel in Midtown Manhattan is scheduled to
reopen in November after being closed for more than four years. The property’s
owner, Ty Warner, who founded the Beanie Babies empire, reached an agreement
with Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts earlier this year over fees. Warner
acquired the 368-key hotel building in 1999 for $275 million.
Hospitality
America adds in Charleston. Greenville, South Carolina-based Contender Development has selected
Greenville-based Hospitality America to manage the 123-key Element by Marriott
Charleston Airport in North Charleston, South Carolina. The hotel is scheduled
to open in the second quarter of 2025 and will be the eighth Marriott hotel in
the Hospitality America portfolio and the second property managed for Contender
Development.
New
prototype for My Place. On the first day of its convention, Aberdeen, South Dakota-based My
Place Hotels of America introduced a new 71-room prototype for its upper
midscale, extended-stay brand. The brand will also continue to offer its two
other prototype models. My Place has 73 open hotels across 30 states, with over
120 in its pipeline.
Brown
Hotels seeks investor. Tel Aviv, Israel-based Brown Hotels is facing financial difficulties
with a debt of at least NIS100 million and is seeking an investor, according to
Globes. The company, which operates dozens of hotels in Israel and worldwide,
is facing operating difficulties because of the war in Israel and its impact on
tourism. The story said Brown Hotels is seeking a new investor who might even
take control of the company. One interested party is Israel Canada, which has a
hotel subsidiary that was set up in 2019 and tried to buy Brown Hotels a year
ago.
First W
branded residence in Abu Dhabi. Taraf and Marriott International have signed an agreement to
open the first W Hotels branded residences in Abu Dhabi with The W Residences
Abu Dhabi – Al Maryah Island. Taraf is the real estate division of UAE-based
investment holding group Yas Holding.
Marriott
adds in Indonesia. Marriott International and Surabaya, Indonesia-based PT Pakuwon Jati Tbk. have
signed an agreement to develop five additional properties in Indonesia. The
properties are the 320-key Jakarta Marriott Hotel Kota Kasablanka (scheduled to
open in December 2029); the 243-key Aloft Surabaya, Pakuwon Indah (scheduled to
open in December 2029); the 306-key Courtyard by Marriott Batam (scheduled to
open in December 2029); the 240-key The Jakarta EDITION (scheduled to open in
December 2030) and the 230-key The Westin Batam (slated to open in December
2030).
