Wyndham's all-inclusive platform grows beyond 50 properties and could include more from Decameron if this new deal succeeds.
PARSIPPANY, New Jersey – Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has strengthened its position
in the all-inclusive resort space by entering into an alliance with Bogota,
Colombia-based Decameron All-Inclusive Hotels & Resorts, adding nine
properties with 2,693 rooms across Mexico, Panama and Jamaica. Decameron will
continue to own and operate the resorts.
The deal expands Wyndham’s all-inclusive offerings to more
than 50 resorts globally and about 40 in Latin America, primarily via similar
marketing alliances where Wyndham supplies marketing, technology and
distribution platforms.
Gustavo Viescas, president, Latin America and the Caribbean,
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, told Hotel Investment Today that he expects to
see at least three more separate all-inclusive property deals before the end of
the year – two in the Dominican Republic and one in Mexico.
The deal was signed after Wyndham’s team first approached
Decameron in November 2022 to discuss potential opportunities and options.
Viescas added that deals like Decameron take time to develop
and usually take a year or two to develop. As always, he added, his team is
always working on further partnerships such as this one.
Five of Decameron’s nine resorts will join Wyndham’s
Trademark Collection by Wyndham brand, while four others join Wyndham’s Ramada
by Wyndham brand. All will join Wyndham Rewards.
Viescas said no specific rate and occupancy goals have been
set with Decameron, adding that the partnership will move forward in three
phases. The first is connect the nine Decameron properties to all Wyndham
systems, which he said should take around a year. Second, Decameron has
prioritized increasing its visibility and penetration in the U.S and Canada, as
well as other strong Wyndham Latin American markets like Brazil. Viescas said the
third phase, if the partnership succeeds, would include expanding the partnership to
other Decameron all-inclusive properties in markets that include Colombia, El
Salvador, Panama, Peru and Ecuador.
Currently, Decameron has nearly 30 properties in
eight countries with more than 7,000 guest rooms across Colombia, Ecuador, El
Salvador, Haiti, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama and Peru.
