Marriott expanding
Apartments. Marriott International is expanding its Apartments
by Marriott Bonvoy brand with signed development agreements in the U.S., Italy
and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In the U.S., Marriott recently announced an
agreement with Roxbury Group for a 92-key development in Detroit (a conversion
of The Plaza Apartments) and is partnering with Midas Hospitality for a 50-key
development in St. Louis that will be co-located with a new Sheraton hotel
downtown. The company also has an agreement with i Castello Sgr for a 47-unit
project called Le Géant in Courmayeur, Aosta Valley, Italy. It also has an
agreement with NEOM to bring a 218-key project to the island of Sindalah on the
northwest coast of Saudi Arabia.

Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy
Sonesta’s first ground-up ES Suites. Newton,
Massachusetts-based Sonesta International Hotels Corp. is building the
first Sonesta ES Suites brand project developed from the ground up in Port
Charlotte, Florida. The 117-key Sonesta ES Suites Port Charlotte is scheduled
to open in Spring 2025.
Margaritaville to Kansas City. A $150-million
Margaritaville Hotel is opening in Kansas City, Kansas, in the spring of 2025.
The 229-key Margaritaville Hotel Kansas City is a partnership between the
Margaritaville and Kansas City-based Homefield KC and Sunflower
Development Group. It will be managed by Davidson Hospitality Group.
Hyatt Centric expands in Mexico. Hyatt Hotels Corp. is
partnering with Inmobiliaria Canels, SA de CV and GACO&BA to expand its
Hyatt Centric lifestyle brand in Mexico. The 105-key Hyatt Centric Querétaro is
scheduled to open in 2025 and will be the second for the brand in Mexico.
Aman opening in Bangkok. Aman Resorts, Hotels & Residences is opening Aman Nai Lert Bangkok in the third quarter of 2024. The 52-key hotel with an additional 39 branded residences will be located in Nai Lert Park’s tropical gardens.
IHCL adds in India. Mumbai-based
Indian Hotels Company Ltd. has signed a deal for its third property in Ayodhya,
a 150-key IHCL SeleQtions hotel, which will sit on 1.3 acres near the airport.
Accor expands in Philippines. Accor is adding
two new properties in the Philippines. The 175-key ibis Styles Subic will
become the first international branded hotel on the former site of a U.S.
military base and is scheduled to open in 2026. It will also open a 250-key
Mercure Subic adjacent to the ibis property.
IHG partners in Dubai. Dubai-based
Kleindienst Group is partnering with IHG Hotels & Resorts to operate the
Côte d’Azur Monaco Hotel at The Heart of Europe in Dubai under the voco brand,
as voco Monaco Dubai. The 198-key property will open in the first quarter of
2024.
Radisson adds in Indonesia, Germany. Radisson Hotel
Group will open a 150-key beachfront resort in Anyer, Indonesia. The company
also announced its first Radisson RED brand in Berlin with the 133-key Radisson
RED Berlin Kudamm. Arena Hospitality Group will be the co-owner and manager of
the Berlin property, which will open later this year.
Meliá to open in Puerto Plata. Mallorca, Spain-based
Meliá Hotels International has signed a preliminary agreement with the
Bergantín Trust to develop a hotel in the Puerto Plata tourism district in the
Dominican Republic.
Cheval to open in Glasgow. London-based Cheval
Collection, with owner 141WRS, will operate the 70-key Cheval Maison – West
Regent in Glasgow in 2026. The company said it will be the first of its kind in
Glasgow. Cheval operates nine locations in London, three in Edinburgh, Scotland
and one in Dubai.
