Portfolio outside the U.S. grows to nearly 160,000;
extended-stay leads the way in U.S.
NORTH BETHESDA, Maryland – Choice Hotels International
expanded its international portfolio at the end of 2025 to nearly 160,000 rooms
outside the United States, representing a 13% growth in rooms.
The franchise giant acquired the remaining 50% stake in the
Choice Hotels Canada joint venture and recently announced a multi-unit
agreement for six new Ascend Collection properties in Québec.
Choice Hotels also signed a 50-unit Quality Suites agreement
in France, nearly doubling its footprint there.
The company also entered Poland with an Ascend Collection
property and a master development agreement that paves the way for future
growth.
Choice launched its MainStay Suites brand in Australia with
seven properties.
It also accelerated long-term scale in Asia through a
70-unit distribution agreement and exclusive master franchisee SSAW in China,
which is expected to generate more than 100 Comfort and Quality hotels over the
next four years.
Choice also expanded its Radisson portfolio across new and
existing Latin American markets and entered Argentina with several Radisson
properties. It also renewed its partnership with Atlantica in Brazil and
celebrated eight Radisson-brand openings across the CALA region and Canada.
Choice also secured agreements for three hotels in Kenya and
established a master development framework supporting future expansion across
sub-Saharan Africa.
Domestically, Choice delivered its strongest extended-stay
year on record, opening 66 properties.
Choice’s extended-stay platform in the U.S. delivered its
strongest year on record with 66 openings and also signed 93 total franchise
agreements across its four extended-stay brands.
The company’s upscale brands delivered steady growth and
continued differentiation in 2025 through strong openings, adding 27 domestic
upscale hotels across Ascend Collection, Cambria Hotels, and Radisson.
For its core brands, Choice awarded 247 U.S. franchise
agreements — a year‑over‑year increase, including a 50% increase for Country
Inn & Suites and 57 agreements with Quality Inn.
