Among
the highlights: acquisitions of high-profile hotels in Singapore, Las Vegas,
Phoenix and San Francisco.
INTERNATIONAL REPORT — Notable deals in Singapore, Las Vegas, Phoenix and San Francisco highlighted the month of November hotel deal activity.
During the week of October 29-November 3, the 344-key Hotel Miramar in Singapore was acquired by a pair of Singapore-based companies, fund manager Aravest and Wee Hur Holdings, for S$160 million, with plans to rebrand the property as the city’s first
DoubleTree by Hilton hotel.
The following week, New York City-based REIT Vici Properties agreed to acquire seven casino properties from Las Vegas-based Golden Entertainment for $1.16 billion and to enter into a triple-net master lease with a newly formed entity that will be owned
and controlled by Blake Sartini, current chairman and CEO of Golden. The entity will acquire Golden’s operating business in connection with the closing of the transaction.
Brookfield Hotel Properties highlighted our data from the week of November 7-18 when it acquired the 1,003-key Sheraton Phoenix Downtown, the city's largest hotel, from Blackstone for an undisclosed amount.
During the week of November 17-25, a $408 million sale price was reported for Park Hotels & Resorts’ former Hilton San Francisco Union Square and Parc 55 San Francisco (3,000 total rooms). Newbond Holdings and Conversant Capital recently acquired the
hotels and the price marks a reported 75% discount to the appraised values in a 2016 financing.
The following week, for November 25-December 2, showed further evidence that San Francisco is on the rebound with news that Blackstone acquired the 277-key Four Seasons hotel in the city. While the price was not disclosed, an earlier report said the price
tag was near $130 million.
