Among the noteworthy deals of the past week is Blackstone’s
acquisition from Goldman Sachs of the 158-room Moxy Kyoto Nijo.
The Moxy in Kyoto opened in July 2021 and sold for a reported
JPY8 billion ($54 million). The asset is from a portfolio of Japanese
hotels which Goldman Sachs acquired in Japan in 2017 through a joint
effort with investment manager Pacifica Hotels KK. MSCI Real Assets reported
that through August, investors have spent $2 billion on Japanese hotels, more
than any other country in the region.
