Among
the noteworthy deals of the past week was Sono International selling the
Waikiki Resort Hotel in Honolulu to Hanjin KAL for 140 billion won ($102.1
million).
HONOLULU – Hanjin KAL Corp., the holding firm of South Korea-based Korean
Air Lines Co., last week was reported to have sold the 275-key Waikiki Resort
Hotel in Honolulu for 140.1 billion won ($102.1 million) to resort operator
Sono International, an affiliate of South
Korea-based Daemyung Sono Group. The transaction date is still being
negotiated.
Hanjin KAL first tried to sell the hotel in
2020, and the company agreed to sell it to U.S.-based AHI-CLG LLC for 146.6
billion won last September. However, Hanjin KAL ultimately walked away from the
deal after the payment was delayed for around two months.
